About Us

Hope Horizons is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of people impacted by cancer. Through the Jenny Black Cancer Wellness Centre, we provide a range of clinical and supportive care services that are holistic, empowering and accessible.

Our team works alongside individuals and their families to ensure they are supported physically, emotionally and socially throughout their cancer experience. We believe that every person deserves compassionate, evidence-informed care and access to services that improve quality of life and wellbeing.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next chapter of Hope Horizons and the Jenny Black Cancer Wellness Centre and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

About the Role

As Practice Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day leadership of the Jenny Black Cancer Wellness Centre, ensuring the Centre operates smoothly, feels welcoming and delivers an exceptional experience for the people who walk through our doors.

This is a diverse and hands-on position at the heart of Hope Horizons. As we enter an exciting new chapter, you will help establish and strengthen the operational foundations that allow our services, people and community to thrive.

Working closely with staff, volunteers, service providers and the Management Committee, you will coordinate the practical aspects of running the Centre, support the delivery of clinical and community services, and implement the systems, processes and routines that underpin a sustainable and growing organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Jenny Black Cancer Wellness Centre.

  • Ensure the Centre is welcoming, organised, accessible and provides a positive experience for clients, carers, volunteers and visitors.

  • Establish and embed effective systems, processes and workflows that support high-quality service delivery and efficient operations.

  • Manage facilities, infrastructure, contractors, suppliers and service agreements to ensure safe, compliant and effective operations at the Jenny Black Cancer Wellness Centre and Hope on a Hanger stores.

  • Support the delivery and growth of clinical and community support services through effective administration and operational oversight, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Centre staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative, values-aligned high-performance culture.

  • Coordinate recruitment, induction, rostering, performance conversations, and ongoing development of Centre staff and volunteers.

  • Oversee financial administration including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial reporting.

  • Monitor compliance with legislative, regulatory, and organisational requirements, including Workplace Health and Safety obligations.

  • Prepare regular operational reports for the Management Committee and contribute to operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with healthcare providers, community organisations, and other stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen systems, reduce reliance on individuals and improve the sustainability and effectiveness of Hope Horizons.

About You

You are someone who loves bringing structure, clarity and warmth to busy environments.

You enjoy creating order from complexity, supporting people to do their best work and making sure the details that matter don't fall through the cracks. You are equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves to solve practical problems as you are coordinating priorities and improving systems.

You may come from a healthcare, community, not-for-profit, allied health or practice management background, but above all, you are someone who thrives on helping people and organisations flourish.

You will be solutions-focused, financially astute and committed to creating an environment where staff, volunteers, clients and service providers feel valued, supported and connected to a shared purpose.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead, support, and develop staff and volunteers.

  • Strong financial administration skills, including budgeting, reporting, payroll, and accounts management.

  • Experience managing compliance, risk, governance, and Workplace Health and Safety obligations.

  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and engage with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with business systems, administration processes, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with a Management Committee or Board.

  • Current Queensland Driver Licence.

  • Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain).

  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:

  • Demonstrates empathy, compassion and professionalism in all interactions.

  • Values dignity, respect and client choice.

  • Is passionate about improving the wellbeing of people affected by cancer.

  • Builds strong collaborative relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.

  • Is proactive, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement.

  • Shares our commitment to providing accessible and supportive services to the community.

If you are seeking an opportunity to combine your administrative and leadership skillset with meaningful client relationships and make a lasting impact in the lives of people affected by cancer, we would love to hear from you.
