South Burnett CTC Inc is a not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to providing support to disadvantaged individuals and families across various services, including Foster Care, Residential Care, and Domestic and Family Violence Services. With teams operating from Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango, and Murgon, we are committed to enhancing the well-being of our community.

Our Partners in Foster Care program is designed to recruit, train, assess, and support carers who care for children and young people under Child Protection Orders. We focus on creating safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children in our care.

Position Overview

The Foster and Kinship Care Practitioner will work within the Partners in Foster Care program, reporting to the Team Leader. This role involves delivering practical and emotional support to a caseload of foster and kinship carers, ensuring the safety and well-being of children placed in their homes.

Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, providing training, and facilitating communication between carers and relevant stakeholders. Practitioners are also required to participate in an on-call roster and engage in continuous professional development to enhance service delivery.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Child Protection or Human Services, with a focus on supporting diverse communities. You should demonstrate an understanding of child development and trauma-informed care, along with excellent communication skills.

• Industry experience in Child Protection or Human Services
• An understanding of the Child Protection Act and related policy, legislation and relevant Industry Standards
• Experience in or the aptitude to learn assessment tools/techniques to assess the suitability of potential carers and reassess current carers
• Ability to respond to the complex needs of children and carers
• Diploma level qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Mental Health, or related fields
• Valid Queensland Driver Licence
• First Aid and CPR
• Working with children Blue Card
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Licensing of Care Services Suitability Check (LCS)
