We’re seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Laboratory Scientist to join our dedicated Histology team in Toowoomba. In this hands-on role, you will support essential laboratory operations to ensure timely and accurate results.

Your key duties will include:

• Specimen registration and batching

• Accessioning, embedding, and microtomy

• Conducting special stain procedures

• Routine equipment maintenance and housekeeping tasks

• Maintaining quality standards and adherence to laboratory protocols

 What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic attitude, a strong attention to detail, and proven ability to perform effectively in a busy laboratory environment.

You will also have:

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• A high level of commitment to accuracy, laboratory turnaround times and the ability to work effectively in a multi-tasking environment

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team along with strong organisational skills

• Flexibility to work rostered shifts between 5:00am and 07:30pm, Monday to Friday, and weekends as required

• A current driver’s licence

• Willingness to assist across departments when needed

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

• A degree in Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), Diploma of Laboratory Technology, or another relevant qualification (essential)

While not required, the following experience will be highly regarded:

• Previous exposure to histology processes such as accessioning, microtomy, embedding, staining and dissection.

• Familiarity with the Apollo Laboratory Information System (LIS)
