About the role

AJs Total Truck Gear / Kentweld Bullbars is seeking a Procurement Officer to join our team in Toowoomba, QLD. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient sourcing, purchasing, and management of materials and services required for our manufacturing operations. As a Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for optimising our supply chain, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring cost-effective procurement practices that support the company's operational excellence and profitability objectives.

What you'll be doing

• Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service criteria on range of products from aluminum down to nuts and bolts

• Preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures - basic xero knowledge needed

• Negotiating contracts and pricing terms with vendors to achieve optimal value for money

• Managing inventory levels and coordinating with warehouse and operations teams to ensure adequate stock availability

• Monitoring supplier performance against agreed service levels and taking corrective action when necessary

• Maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes

• Liaising with internal departments to understand procurement requirements and timelines

• Identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement function

• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company procurement policies

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or inventory management within a manufacturing or logistics environment

• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and vendor management best practices

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive supplier relationships

• Proficiency with procurement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office applications

• Ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and make recommendations based on procurement metrics

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously

• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all procurement documentation

• Previous experience in the automotive or manufacturing sector is highly desirable
