The role

As a full-time Maintenance Fitter, you will provide essential support to the production process by ensuring the optimal maintenance and operation of our commercial laundry equipment. This is a hands-on role requiring mechanical aptitude, systematic fault-finding, and the ability to manage a preventative maintenance programme across a large, diverse fleet of Girbau industrial equipment.

Vanguard Laundry has a range of Girbau commercial laundry equipment, including tunnel washers and conveyors, industrial presses, gas, flatwork ironers and feeders, automated folding machines, and barrier washers. Equipment is controlled by a combination of mechanical systems and PLC-based controls

For this role you may be a qualified fitter and turner, mechanic, electrician or have worked in a similar position. You will need to be a fast learner and a great problem-solver, willing to take on a variety of tasks to support the team.

You will be supported by the Operations Manager and work closely with Laundry Supervisors. You will also have access to technical support from the licensed service agent and approved external contractors for specialist trades (gas fitting, refrigeration, and electrical licensed work).

How will you do this?

• Develop, own, and execute a Preventative Maintenance Schedule aligned to Girbau manufacturer recommendations and operational requirements.

• Work collaboratively with the supervisors to ensure efficient laundry operations and prompt resolutions to equipment issues.

• Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of equipment (subject to licensing regulations, liaising with and playing a support role to external contractors as required)

• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance/cleaning on machinery.

• Report on equipment malfunctions and breakdowns.

• Uphold workplace health and safety standards and promote a positive work environment

• General handyman, building maintenance and external environment tasks.

• Assisting in the installation of new equipment as required.

About you

We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified tradesman who's confident to autonomously manage a variety of tasks. You thrive in a dynamic environment and will be confident troubleshooting and problem solving under pressure.

Qualifications

• A trade qualification ideally as either fitter and turner, mechanic or electrician (Essential)

• Driver license (MR highly regarded)

Experience

• Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and/or repairing industrial equipment (desirable)

Vanguard Laundry's standard operating hours are currently 6am-6pm Monday to Friday and 7am-12pm on a Saturday. You would work a roster of hours to be negotiated based on business needs as well as your flexibility requirements.
